Gas Stations
All gas stations in Costa Rica have gas pump attendants, unlike in the United States and many other countries where most gas stations have moved to self-serve. The attendants will pump your gas for you.
Plan Accordingly
There can be quite a distance between gas stations. It is a good idea to fill up whenever you pass one, as you may not find another for many miles. Many mid to large towns will have at least one, but you might find yourself traveling for several miles, through smaller towns, without seeing any at all.
ATMs
Where there is gas, there is usually an ATM. At almost every larger gas station near tourist areas we have seen ATMs available.
Watch for Scams
Check to make sure the price on the gas meter is the same as you are charged when using a credit card. Always check your receipt before leaving.
