What to Expect
One hotel you stay in might have luxurious bedding, but the next might feel scratchy and rough. The bedding from place to place may vary greatly. If you are accustomed to sleeping in high thread count sheets, you may not find that in Costa Rica unless you’re staying in a five-star hotel. This, of course, also depends on the owner of the facility you are staying in. Some European or North American owners might provide these, as this is what they are also accustomed to.
Blankets on top of the top sheet may not be provided. In some hotels and bed and breakfasts in hot zones near the coast, beds may be made with just a top sheet. This helps the hotel guests to cut down on the use of air conditioning, in return, saving the hotel money. (Note: many bed and breakfasts do not have air conditioning. If you are in need of it, it is best to check prior to booking.)
